Disney’s Pixar Announces New Film Called Onward

After Up, it looks like Disney’s Pixar studios is going another direction and heading onward in their upcoming film. Disney and Tom Holland, the infamous leaker of Disney secrets, took to social media yesterday to announce that Pixar is working on a new “suburban fantasy” film called Onward. Directed by the creator of Monsters University, the film will focus on two teenage elf brothers that embark on an extraordinary quest to find magic after the death of their father.

According to the director, “the world is basically a mix of the fantastic and the everyday. There are mushroom houses that line the streets with satellite dishes sticking out the top of them and a minivan parked in front of each one. There are no humans… but there are unicorns everywhere. They’re basically rodents, possums eating all the trash out of your bins”.

The film is also expected to be an Infinity War reunion as Guardian of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt and Spider-Man’s Tom Holland have been cast to play the two brothers. Other stars include Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer.

So, get ready to go onward and upward with Pixar as the film will arrive in theaters on March 6, 2020.

Doctor Strange Sequel in the Works

Apparently Doctor Strange won’t be dust for long because Marvel Studios has announced that a Doctor Strange sequel is officially in the works. Scott Derrickson will return to the director’s seat, Benedict Cumberbatch will revive his role as the master of mystic arts, and Benedict Wong will conjure up his role as Wong.

The film is expected to be filmed in Spring 2020 with a potential theater release date in May 2021. This gives Doctor Strange and the rest of the Avengers enough time to snap back to reality and return from the dust.

Punisher Season 2 Coming to Netflix

Netflix has revealed the first glimpse at season 2 of The Punisher in a batch of “new to Netflix” films and shows set to release in January. The snippet shows Frank arming up and hopping into his van to prepare himself for another mission.

Punisher and Jessica Jones remain as the only two uncanceled Netflix shows after the surprise cancelations of Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil.

Other films and shows on Netflix’s January list include Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Season 4 Part 2, A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 3, Pinky Malinky, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Friends from College Season 2, Grace and Frankie Season 5, Close, and Hotel Transylvania 3.

Disney+ Won’t Be Reviving Marvel Netflix Shows Before 2020

After the shocking news that Marvel Netflix shows Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist were canceled, fans were hoping that Disney and Marvel Studios will revive the series on their new streaming service, Disney+. However, Variety has reported that there is a legal clause in the contract between Netflix and Marvel that prevents the characters from being used in any new TV shows or films for two years after their cancellation. Therefore, Disney won’t be able to revive some of our favorite heroes until 2020, at the earliest.

However, Disney+ is expected to revive Loki in a new series starring the mischievous Asgardian god. There are also rumors of a series starring the Winter Soldier, Falcon, and Scarlet Witch.

The Mandalorian will also make a new Star Wars debut on Disney+ in a live-action TV show produced by Jon Favreau, and another Star Wars series is also expected to bring back Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor from Rogue One for a prequel.

Aquaman Receives Rotten Tomatoes Score

After diving into theaters, the first reviews of Aquaman are washing ashore and the film currently has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 76%.

Based on a Rotton Tomatoes poll, the film is the number one pick of movies to see this December and therefore, the scores will definitely fluctuate when the film releases to the public on December 21st.
