The Word on the Street for Monday, December 10th

In this edition:

Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer Delayed to Dec 18

On the heels of the Avengers: End Game and Captain Marvel release, the trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home was expected to release this weekend at Brazil’s Comic-Con and then online for the rest of the world. However, apparently, Marvel decided to test Holland’s secret-keeping skills a little longer as the online release is now delayed to December 18th.

Lucky for us though, several people were in attendance at the Comic-Con and we have a small glimpse into the trailer. Warning: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD.

According to attendees, the gang is traveling far from home to Venice, Italy where we’ll see a fun romance starting between Peter Parker and Michelle. Eventually though, Nick Fury appears in Peter and Ned’s hotel room, shoots a tranquilizer dart at Ned, and recruits Peter to help him fight “the Elementals”. At the end of the trailer, we also see Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio joining Spider-Man to fight Hydro-Man, a new villain that emerges from the waters of Venice to attack the city and cause chaos and destruction. You can also expect to catch a glimpse of Spider-Man’s new black stealth suit and Mysterio’s iconic armor. Interestingly though, the trailer has no mention of the events of Infinity War or the decimation of half the world’s population.

Stranger Things Season 3 Drops Episode Titles

Over the weekend, Stranger Things announced its episode titles for the third season of Eleven and the gang’s adventures in Hawkins. The eight-episode season will include the following titles:

  1. Suzie, Do You Copy?
  2. The Mall Rats
  3. The Case of the Missing Lifeguard
  4. The Sauna Test
  5. The Source
  6. The Birthday
  7. The Bite
  8. The Battle of Starcourt

This third season will take place in the summer of 1985, one year after season two, and feature our favorite characters, as well as some new ones. Little Woman‘s Maya Hawke will join the show as Robin, a young girl seeking more excitement in her life, and Haters Back Off!‘s Francesca Reale will play the lifeguard at Hawkin’s Community pool, who will apparently end up missing in episode 3. We’re also expecting to see a lot more from Joe Keery’s character, Steve and catch some amazing 80s references to Back to the Future

Stranger Things also announced at the Game Awards last week that it will release a 16-bit video game featuring Season 3 on all gaming platforms.

Doctor Who Fans Must Wait Until 2020 for Season 12

It looks like Doctor Who fans are going to have to wait a little longer to see the rest of the story as BBC announced this weekend that the show will not return in 2019. Instead, season 12 of the popular series will air in early 2020.

Don’t worry though. If you can’t wait until then, BBC will be airing a “very special episode” on New Year’s Day called Resolutions. According to the episode synopsis, it will take place on New Year’s as a “terrifying evil is stirring, from across the centuries of Earth’s history. As the Doctor, Ryan, Graham, and Yaz return home, will they be able to overcome the threat to planet Earth?”

Aquaman Makes a Splash with $94 Million Opening in China

Two weeks ahead of its US launch, Aquaman dove its way into theaters in China and made a huge splash. It grossed $94 million in the box office and landed itself the best opening of any DC comic movie. Among DC/Warner Brothers films, the movie is doing 96 percent better than Justice League and exceeded the entire lifetime gross proceeds of Wonder Woman in China.

According to The New York Times, Chinese audiences have grown more selective about Hollywood movies and therefore, Aquaman‘s success could point to huge numbers for the United States release. The movie is set to hit theaters in the US on December 21st.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s New Trailer Goes Full Die Hard

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is returning for its sixth season on January 10th, and Jake Peralta is getting everything he’s ever dreamed of. The new trailer goes full Die Hard and features Peralta saving the day while the 99 gang watches in awe. We see action, adventure, and pure comedy.

After Fox attempted to ax the show, the trailer provides new hope and laughs for all the 99 fans out there. Nine-nine!

Avengers: End Game Trailer Breaks Records and Gets a New Site

With everyone waiting in anticipation for the return of Thanos and our lost heroes, it’s no wonder that the Avengers: End Game trailer set records this past weekend. The trailer was viewed 289 million times in the first 24-hours of release and set a new record for the most trailer views in a day. It decimated the previous record of 230 million views set by Infinity War and the runner-up, 224.6 million views for Lion King‘s teaser trailer.

However, if you aren’t done with Avengers: End Game, try checking out avengersendgame.com. What you find might surprise you… maybe he’s the hero we’ve all been waiting for.
