The Word on the Street for Thursday, December 6th

New Captain Marvel Trailer

Sort of old news now, but the world is still reeling from the release of the second Captain Marvel trailer. Thought of as the Avengers’ savior, Captain Marvel is expected to shake the MCU and help us understand how we can return to our beloved, lost Avengers. So, here’s what we learned from the new trailer:

Russo Brothers Mysterious Presentation at the Game Awards

Since the snap, we’ve all been waiting on the edge of our seats for what’s to come. However, a new Russo Brothers appearance may just snap us back to reality. The Infinity War directors are expected to appear as presenters at the 2018 Game Awards today, Thursday, December 6th. Since Jeremy Renner confessed at Tokyo Comic-Con this past weekend that “we’ll be seeing some of [Avengers 4] in the next few days”, some fans believe that the Russo Brothers will use the Game Awards as a platform to either announce information related to Infinity War or release a trailer. However, this rumor is most likely just a rumor. The more plausible theory is that the directors will announce some news about Square Enix’s Marvel game currently being called The Avengers Project. The game was announced back in January 2017, but has received very little attention since then. Guess we’ll all have to tune into the Game Awards when it airs online tonight at 8:30 p.m. EST.

Kevin Hart to host the Oscars

Kevin Hart said that hosting the Oscars is an opportunity of a lifetime for a comedian, but it looks like his time has come. The Night School star took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce that he has been selected to host the 2019 Academy Awards. The Academy also confirmed the announcement by tweeting “Welcome to the family, @kevinhart4real” and former host Jimmy Kimmel sent Hart all the best with his tweet saying, “Congratulations amigo – @TheAcademy made an excellent choice. You are going to kill it”. So, watch little Kevin hit the big stage at the 91st Academy Awards on February 24, 2019.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer Dropping Dec 8

Tom Holland won’t have to spoil any more of Sony’s secrets because the very first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home is set to debut at Brazil Comic-Con this Saturday, December 8th. According to rumors, the trailer will premiere at Sony’s panel and then will be released online soon after. Therefore, it won’t be long until we catch up with our favorite web-slinging pal and see what happened to him after his dramatic turn to dust.

AT&T’s New Streaming Service

From the DC Universe to Disney+, it already seems like we’re going to be paying a lot more to watch our favorite TV shows and movies across a number of different streaming services. However, get ready to reconsider your options because AT&T is also throwing its hat in the ring and hoping to give Netflix a run for its money. According to AT&T, their new on-demand streaming service will launch at the end of 2019 and will offer three different tiers. The first will offer movies from WarnerMedia, the second will stream WarnerMedia TV series and “blockbuster movies”, and the third and most expensive bundle will add HBO series and movies to the mix. Interestingly though, AT&T also intends on bringing back commercials. These commercials will play when you pause a video and run much like the dreaded, old-school ads that we switched to streaming to escape. Hulu is also going to launch these pause ads sometime next year.

Now go on and spread the news and tune in tomorrow for the latest word on the street.
